The new service connects the customer remotely to a UK based mortgage adviser and was piloted last year.
Customers can go online, call, or visit a branch to go through the initial stages of their mortgage application, providing documentation where required.
This new video service is designed to complement the existing branch, online, telephone and intermediary channels.
If a customer prefers to speak to a mortgage adviser in person, they still can, as advisers will continue to be available in branch.
Miguel Sard, managing director of mortgages at Santander, said: “We are excited to offer customers this new mortgage video service, which works well alongside our existing offering.
“We know that customers value speaking to a mortgage adviser who will explain what options are available to them and recommend a product to meet their individual needs.
Later this year Santander plans to enhance the mortgage video service so customers to speak with a mortgage advisor by video link from their home using their own device.
Nationwide was the first lender to offer a mortgage video link service in 2014.
